Navigating within web pages

When I select a navigation option from one of your jump menus (e.g., the menu above), nothing happens.

Netscape®: Edit | Preferences | Advanced | check Enable JavaScript (you do not need to check Enable Java or Enable JavaScript for Mail and News)
Microsoft® Internet Explorer: Tools | Internet Options | Security | Internet | Custom Level | scroll down to Scripting | Active Scripting | check Enable

Alternatively, you may be using a browser that does not support JavaScript. In this case, please use your browser's scrollbar to navigate within pages.
Curriculum vitae in Acrobat® format
When I try to open or print the Acrobat file of your Curriculum vitae, I receive the error message(s) "Invalid color space" and/or "This file contains information not understood by the viewer. Suppress further errors?"
Blank boxes appear instead of text when I try to view the Acrobat file.
You are using a release of Acrobat Reader™ older than Version 4.0. Please upgrade to the latest version available, using the link at right. You can download the Acrobat Reader free of charge. Download free Acrobat Reader
I am unable to open the Acrobat file of your Curriculum vitae within my web browser when I click on its link button.
The Acrobat Reader must be accessible to your browser as a plug-in. When you download and install the latest version of the free Acrobat Reader, it should plug itself into your browser automatically, either during the setup process or the next time that you click on a web link to an Acrobat file.
I am unable to download the Acrobat file from your website following your instructions to right-click/click-and-hold.

If "Save link" or "Save target" do not appear as options, left-click (Windows) or click-and-release (Mac) on the link button to open the file in the Acrobat Reader. You can then save the file to your hard disk using the "Save" button Save in the Reader toolbar.

If you have installed the latest version of Acrobat Reader but remain unable to view, download and/or print the Acrobat file, I will fax, mail or e-mail my Curriculum vitae to you; please contact me, specifying your preference.
You may also attempt to resolve the problem with the aid of the Acrobat® Technical Guides at the Adobe website.
Interview in RealAudio®
When I click on the link to the CBC RealAudio interview, nothing happens.
When I click on the link to the CBC RealAudio interview, my browser reports an Unknown File Type.

The RealPlayer™ must be installed on your computer, and must be accessible to your browser as a plug-in. When you download and install the latest version of the free RealPlayer (link at right), it should plug itself into your browser automatically, either during the setup process or the next time that you click on a web link to a RealAudio file.

Download free RealOne Player
When I try to play the streaming RealAudio interview, the RealPlayer opens, then reports that it cannot connect to the server.
The RealAudio interview file resides on CBC's RealAudio server. During periods of peak use, the server may be unable to establish additional connections. Please try to connect again later.
The interview plays, but sound quality is poor.
Playback of streaming RealAudio may be impaired by heavy network traffic or low bandwidth. For better sound quality, you can download the interview to your hard disk then play it at your convenience in RealPlayer. Right-click (Windows) or click-and-hold (Mac) here, then choose "Save link" or "Save target" to download the RealAudio file to your computer (size 2.9 MB).
You may attempt to resolve RealPlayer configuration problems with the aid of the RealNetworks® Service and Support page.
Reading linked publications
Why can't I access all of the publications for which you provide online links?
For copyright reasons, most scientific journals provide online access to registered subscribers only. Many university libraries subscribe to these journals' online services, and provide free access to affiliated users. If you are affiliated with a university, you may contact your librarian for support.
All guests are welcome to contact me to receive reprints of my papers by mail.
